While on the subject.... I currently backup my home directory (and a few other files) to my second hard drive, and I backup my wife's system to a file system on my large hard drive. I've been meaning to acquire a reliable backup device. My previuous experiences with tapes have been less than good, but they can store a large amount of data. I would like a recommendation of a good tape unit. I have a SCSI card, so a SCSI tape unit would suffice. I also have a JAZ drive, but 1GB is not enough and the JAZ is not reliable enough. CD-R is reliable but not enough capacity for an unattended nightly backup. (I generally backup using a gzipped tar file). I keep 3 days worth of backups based on the father, son, grandfather technique. Needless to say, that any solution must be a Linux solution since I di not use Windows on my 3 computers. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf at blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
