There is a little more to it than that. You need to have a named.conf in /etc that does the right stuff, and you need to have a named.ca file in (by default) /var/named, which points to the root DNS servers. Fortunately, RH (and others no doubt) provide a package that does this for you. The specific package is caching-nameserver-X.Y-Z, where X,Y, and Z depend on your distro, of course. If you don't have that package installed, you'll need to install it or alternately create those files appropriately by hand.
