I've moved the BLU announcements mailing list, announce at blu.org, over to the new server, and replaced the corresponding aliases on the old server so they forward to the new server. The old server used Majordomo to manage the lists; the new server uses Mailman, which is a far more comprehensive listserv. Mailman assigns a password to your subscription, and automatically sends it to you in its monthly report on the status of your subscription. Mailman maintains a single list with options for digest, nomail, etc. on a per-user basis, whereas majordomo set these on a per-list basis and thus needed separate lists for each type of subscription. Mailman has both an email interface and a web interface for managing your subscription. For the email interface, send to "announce-request at blu.org" and place the command in the Subject: line, e.g.: Subject: subscribe Subject: unsubscribe <PASSWORD> Subject: help The web interface is at "http://www.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/announce". -- John Abreau / Executive Director, Boston Linux & Unix ICQ 28611923 / AIM abreauj / JABBER jabr at jabber.org / YAHOO abreauj Email jabr at blu.org / WWW http://www.blu.org -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
