One more quick comment. Most companies have policies regarding the use of company assets. If you use company assets for your email, the company has a right to monitor that use. Another issue was a few years ago some Raytheon employees were caught using inside information and posting it on the web. I forgot the details, but they were caught and fired. Being laid off is a problem because you don't have a job, but if you are fired for cause, that can prevent you from getting a job in the industry.
