Found this in ne.forsale. DDDD - Boris Yeltsin ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sat, 15 Dec 2001 21:27:42 GMT From: Matt Emmott <hardware at jerkychew.com> Newsgroups: ne.forsale Subject: Free* 486-based PCs The star means that they're free, but only if you pick them up. All details below... I have a bunch of refurbished 486 machines. I believe that they are all 486/66's, with 12-16MB of RAM, at least 200MB hard drives, and some flavor of internal modem. However, they don't have floppy drives or power cables. They are all desktop machines, around the size of a VCR. The PCs are running some kind of proprietary OS that was designed to make them little internet appliances. The software, still shrinkwrapped, includes the OS and an office application. Add 2 network cards and install Linux, and you've got a nice little firewall. I have at least 10 of these at the moment. I will give them to anybody that is willing to pick them up in Franklin, MA. If you prefer that I meet you somewhere (I do a lot of work in the Boston area), there's a 10 dollar handling charge. I'd advise against shipping them, because they're heavy, but if you're willing to pay shipping, I'll do it. Contact me via email if interested. Thanks, Matt
