I have a question concerning the 'portability' of the XF86Config file from distribution to distribution. I presently have a machine running Mandrake 8.1. I have everything working fine. I would like to put Slackware on the machine. I have run slackware on the machine in the past, but always ran into problems when it came to the X configuration, basically it wouldn't work. I would like to take the XF86Config from Mandrake 8.1 and use it in place of the one in Slackware after I reinstall, but was wondering if it would work. Any information on pros and cons or if any one has any thoughts, I would like to hear them.
