I installed a new monitor on Saturday to replace my aging Digital 17" monitor with the diverging colors. I had the old monitor shutting down after 30 mins. However, the new monitor does not shut down. Both are energy star compliant. I made no changes in the BIOS, and currently DPMS is set to off (as it was before I changed monitors). I am using KDE. I looked through the KDE control panel and I did not see anything interesting. As I mentioned, other than the changes to XF86.config to support the new monitor, nothing changed.
