My cut is using the cron.hourly et al versus crontab directly is
just a way to get things single threaded and to not have to deal
with crontab.

Personally, I like crontab, but the cron.* directories are an
interesting twist if that is someones preference, especially since
it does not preclude you from putting it into crontab also.
