I had a similar problem when I installed my network card a while back. In my case, the problem was simply a problem with the Tulip driver. I then downloaded, built, and installed the latest tulip driver. I would think that this had been fixed, but I'm not sure. While you may be using different cards, they may use the same network driver. Its worth investigating.
