The reason I ask is that I am installing SuSE 8.0 on my second drive. For the most part, sendmail does what I want, but it is the delay at the client level which is annoying. If Postfix simply accepts the message quickly regardless of the state of the Internet, then it may be worth it for me to simply switch to Postfix.
