But it doesn't seem ~quite~ that bad, couldn't you carefully write down the hardware address of your Ethernet interface and if that hardware ever died, program your new card's hw address to match the old one? (Most Ethernet interfaces don't have hardwired addresses anymore, do they?) -kb, the Kent who is glad he has DSL.
