Does anyone know if VMWare 3.1.1 (running on WinXP) with a Linux guest OS has problems with remote X displays? We just upgraded our PC's at work to XP, with VMWare to run Linux (I wanted it the other way around but thats a different issue) anyway I have a strange situation were I can telnet, ftp, ping, etc fine between the linux-vm and a linux server out back, I can open an xterm from the linux-vm to display on the server... but I can't open an xterm on the server to display on the linux-vm system. I also tried this between two different linux VM's which also failed. I get the dreaded: Can't Open Display error (yes I've run xhost to allow connections) I suspect the problem is on the routers on this new LAN segment filtering some requests but I want to make sure it's not something with vmware before I go complain to the LAN guy. So, to rephrase the question, does anyone know if linux running in vmware has a problem with remote X displays? -fjr Frank Ramsay Systems Programmer Castel, Inc 14 Summer St, 3rd Floor Malden, MA 02148 (781) 324-0140 (voice) (781) 324-0277 (fax) Emal: framsay at castel.com
