Compact Flash Cards

This is really a dumb question.
On my laptop last night, I tried to mount a CF card with a pcmcia holder.
However, I was unable to find the appropriate device. This was in slot 0.
I was in a bit of a hurry. In any case, I have done this before (possibly
on a different laptop, but the same release of SuSE (8.0 with a 2.4
kernel). I did run cardctl status and ident, and everything looked ok.
