-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii "Travis Roy" <travis at scootz.net> writes: > I'm not sure if our system could read it. I'll ask and get back to you. > Do you know how they were saved? The format? Yes, I wrote them myself, back when I was young and naive and didn't really understand how the technology worked. I wrote out each tape as a series of tar images, and followed each one with an EOF marker with mt, not realizing that tar was implicitly writing an EOF when it finished writing its stuff. So each tapes actually contains a sequence of the form tar-image zero-length-file tar-image zero-length-file ... If I recall correctly, the density was something like 6250 or 6280 or something similar. - -- John Abreau / Executive Director, Boston Linux & Unix ICQ 28611923 / AIM abreauj / JABBER jabr at jabber.org / YAHOO abreauj Email jabr at blu.org / WWW http://www.abreau.net / PGP-Key-ID 0xD5C7B5D9 PGP-Key-Fingerprint 72 FB 39 4F 3C 3B D6 5B E0 C8 5A 6E F1 2C BE 99 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Exmh version 2.5 07/13/2001 iQCVAwUBPd/kFlV9A5rVx7XZAQKh1AQA2TwZ1l2J+mfo/lt6dpWNFnts7Q5Se838 AxgpdBD9DHZW4qkCRMwwxGiSkXKmmHjITVNcTe+SWiBr+3AF0X/0iXHWBj1ozvNW 2UlA7u/fa3422XxyZT+pfL4LEX//ODQUr+Oeiw0f++z7GWdA+qkuDBBSBer1wrYE gRnXmvNYO3Y= =Y3bp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
