There is a reason why > most GNU/Linux developers use GCC and not others. but of course for that > you have to have strong ideals. > > ReK2 > www.binaryfreedom.info > You know, OSS/GCC doesn't make any friends when self-proclaimed 'advocates' insult people that, although they may not advocate M$ products, still have to live in the real world. In case you haven't gotten out of the datacenter lately, that boils down to M$ owning more than 90% of OS market (like it or not). I am strong advocate of OSS and GCC. I have written articles on it, and have advocated it's use for some time now. I have used it at work and in my home. I ran a BBS back in the 80s that was frequented by many of the people that are now well known in free software advocacy. I have also contributed to OSS projects. None of this means that I think WinXX is invalid. On the contrary, Windows is very 'valid', and OSS/GPL needs to work that much harder than Bill Gates to succeed. This includes being pleasant to people that think otherwise, as well as not to alienate like-thinkers. As it stands, I think it might be better for OSS/GPL advocacy to have people like you on Bill G's side. Grant M. wizard at neonedge.com
