Grub uses the boot sector (just like lilo) for its first-stage loader. Generally you put the grub 1st-stage in the MBR and then it loads the second stage, which reads the grub.conf file directly. The problem is that windows can screw that up. Re-installing grub might help. But generally I always recommend that if you plan to build a dual/multi-boot machine with windows, you want to install all your windows OSes FIRST. -derek Bill Horne <bill at billhorne.homelinux.org> writes: > On Sat, May 10, 2003 at 06:09:23PM -0400, Wizard wrote: > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: Bill Horne > > > Sent: Monday, May 10, 2004 3:26 PM > > > > > > > I'm trying to restore multiple boot to a Dell PowerEdge 600SC > > > after installing W2K Server. > > > > I created a GRUB Boot disk as per the GRUB info pages, but when I > > > try to boot with it, I get the error "GRUB loading stage2Geom > > > Error". > > > If you installed Win2k AFTER Linux, then you'll have to reinstall > > Linux.
