mdadm / raid

Oh, ah, I misunderstood what you were asking.  Presumably you're
looking for something like mdadm --monitor then?  That'll tell mdadm
to hang around, monitoring events, and then respond to any that happen
in some way that you've specified on the command line.  I would
imagine that the md driver also would log events to syslog.  The mdadm
man page gives a pretty good description of the types of events that
can occur.
