Thought I'd pass this along as it's a local bank. --Tim ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: InfraGard <infragard at infragard.org> Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2003 10:06:17 -0500 Subject: [Banking_and_finance] Daily News 08.26.03 August 24, The MetroWest Daily News (MA) - Bank site shut down after hackers attack. The Middlesex Savings Bank, located in Natick, MA, was forced to shut down its website on Friday, August 23, after customers complained a hacker was keeping them from doing their banking. Natick police received a call from a customer in the afternoon and notified the bank officials who were already aware of the problem. The website was closed later in the day, said Sgt. Bob Dunlop. "It doesn't appear anything was affected," he said. "Somebody hacked into their webpage from the outside I think. It made it impossible for people from the outside to do their online banking." Dunlop said officers forwarded the information to the Secret Service for further investigation.
