Hello Rich: I still work on a 200 MHz machine. Blackbox is a great way to avoid bloatware. Emacs, MH, a few perl scripts, my day-to-day work does not stress my box. I have started to do some animations, and those could use an order of magnitude speed improvement. The tower is over six years old, but has not had a major fault. So far the only major things I've done is swap a few hard disks. Motherboard replacement sounds like open heart surgery. How long did switching the motherboard take? Is this something that a first timer should try? Is there enough solid documentation, from PCs for everyone or a great FAQ on the process? doug
