When I boot the machine into windows, it suspends properly, sound always works, and I did not have to download and compile my own video driver. And at least thus far it has not spontaneously locked up on me. So I don't think of these as "hardware" issues (not counting the heat/keyboard), more like "linux support of certain hardware" issues, which is really what the whole "linux on laptops" thing is about. And for the record I am still willing to tolerate all the things I mentioned, rather than boot into Windows. :) Duane
