I do backup mailman nightly. We remove the waiting queue on several lists. Wind is the only purely moderated list we have. JABR or I remove the waiting queues for discuss and other lists since the list owners don't have the time to seal with the SPAM. Personally, I don't think that the problem is with mailman, but with postfix.
