I just *had* to comment.

I missed that the first look; I agree wholeheartedly
that cleartext config is the only sensible thing.
I suppose one does get to ask about now whether
XML qualifies as "cleartext" or not.  I'm inclined
to say "not" and just stick with [name,value] pairs.
