In my experience, KMail has always been great with fast connections to IMAP, but when you try to connect to an IMAP server 'out in the wild' way out over the net, its tends to have trouble. For example, whey I try to IMAP with my hosting company with KMail, it has issues. Mail.app and Thunderbird work great though. Now that Thunderbird supposedly has native addressbook integration on OS X, I'm looking forward to switching. -Josh
