The Central Help Desk at Tufts University is adding a new position, IT Support Specialist and we actively seeking applicants. This position provides first level IT support services. Responsibilities include: installing operation systems and software; patching systems and protecting against viruses; installing, configuring and troubleshooting peripheral devices; providing back up strategies; providing ad-hoc training as required. The IT Support Specialist provides first level support on Help Desk calls, accurately tracks progress and resolution attempts of support requests in Remedy incident tracking system, and utilizes IT Asset Management tools to remotely manage desktops and laptops for the community and track inventory. The Help Desk shares knowledge by contributing to the knowledgebase, adding troubleshooting documents, standard operating procedures, and )B?how-to? documentation as learned through daily activities. The IT Support Specialist also communicates status of service disruptions to key individuals, following documented procedures. Requires Bachelor)B?s degree and three to five years? experience. Position requires solid background in the configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of the following: Microsoft Windows XP, W2K, NT Workstation 4.0, Windows 95/98, Mac-OS 8.0+-MacOS10, Mozilla email and web client, Microsoft Office Suite, Telnet Clients, SSH Clients, Antivirus software; TCP/IP and imaging Software as well as experience troubleshooting peripherals such as printers and handheld devices. Must have some exposure to desktop security and standards. Must possess ability to communicate/work with people of all levels of technical ability as well as a high degree of integrity/ethics. Superior customer focus is required as are excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as solid analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a team environment essential. A+, MCP or MCSE certification required. Salary range is mid-$30,000's - low/mid$40,000's.
