Go immediately to your nearest techie book store, and pick up a copy of Evi Nemeth's "Linux Administrator's Guide" and read it from cover to cover. The first few chapters will teach you the basics, and the later stuff will teach you all about server administration. I've read all editions of the book since her 2nd edition of the Unix System Administrator's Guide, and I learned a lot of what I know about managing Unix/Linux servers from Evi and her merry band of cohorts. > I do know that if you arn't learning the command line, you arn't > really learning Linux. So that is a good place to start. The documentation that comes with the Red Hat CDs is also really good for this. Any Unix primer will probably be good for this. Linux Unleashed might not be bad, but it's been about 7 years since I've looked at it. In college I had a great book for learning to manipulate the Unix command line, but it's out of print and I lent my copy to a coworker who never returned it... :-( -- Derek D.
