Anyone notice that reliability has declined since Comcast bought AT&T cable? My RCN cable connection continues to work like a champ. I have had Comcast, AT&T, Mediaone, Highway1 for over 10 years. Comcast has been the most reliable. WRT: Router. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 which has running 24X7 for several years. If I reset the cable modem (which I did when Comcast boosted the speed from 3M to 4M), the router comes right up and gets the old IP address. I have the same MAC address on the router's WAN port that I do on the primary PC NIC, But I don't think that Comcast checks those MAC addresses. Also note that I reset the router when my daughter comes over to enable or disable the wireless. That causes it to obtain a new lease. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf at blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9 -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
