If it were me, I'd write her back and say she isn't doing her job by sending you that kind of pablum, and tell her you'll ask your friends to vote against her if she doesn't take a stand. WRITE THE LETTER IN LONGHAND: they pay a lot more attention to hand-written letters than to typed letters or email, both of which are very easy to do on a mass-mailing basis.
