Verizon is rejecting emails - anyone else affected?

My correspondent with an 'ameritech.net' email address had a message to me
bounced (I have Verizon as my ISP and email service).

He's received a message from them after using their whitelist request web
form:

Subject: RE: Whitelist Request for IP Address 207.115.63.72
Date: Tuesday 25 April 2006 11:37 am
From: whitelist at verizononline.net
To: <name withheld>@ameritech.net

Thank you for contacting Verizon Online Security.

After a thorough investigation of your issue, Verizon Online Security has
determined that normal e-mail delivery should be restored within 72 hrs.
