We only see errors being reported in the OS > (RHEL 3) I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but verify that neither interface is forced to a connection speed or duplex. We have often seen problems where the router or server is forced to full/half/gig and the other is set to auto - for some reason it often gets it wrong.
