Sorry for the [last-minute] cross-post, but I know there are many on list who would be interested in the following... Mark Withington who spearheads the Boston PHP group has arranged a meeting at IBM in Cambridge featuring Linda Hamel (General Counsel) and Tim Vaverchak (Director, Open Source Strategy) from the Massachusetts Commonwealth's Information Technology Division (ITD) who will conduct an OSS community outreach (how the Commonwealth is using OSS/PHP and how it procures these services). There are links to the meetup website below, or you can see the details and RSVP directly on the BostonPHP website http://www.bostonphp.org/component/option,com_extcalendar/Itemid,33/extmode,view/extid,21/ ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Mark Withington <info at meetup.com> Date: Jul 8, 2006 12:02 AM Subject: BostonPHP July Users Group reminder To: greg at freephile.com Your Organizer, Mark Withington, sent the following message to the members of Boston PHP Meetup: July User Group Commonwealth of MA OSS community outreach - July 10th @ 6:30PM Linda Hamel (General Counsel) and Tim Vaverchak (Director, Open Source Strategy) from the Commonwealth's Information Technology Division (ITD) will conduct an OSS community outreach (how the Commonwealth is using OSS/PHP and how it procures these services). RSVP here: http://php.meetup.com/29/events/4960234/ . 1. How is the Commonwealth using PHP and other open source software - where, why and by whom. With a consuming public looking for more information, easier, faster and better the Commonwealth is looking to produce highly stable, highly functional product/services in an infinite number of areas while operating within a very finite budget. Sounds like the job for open source...come learn what the Commonwealth is expecting out of it. 2. Service procurement process at the Commonwealth - Ever wondered how to do business with the State? Which door(s) to knock on? Where to hear about the next requirement(s). The "big consulting" companies know all about it...now it's the OSS community's chance. Come listen, ask questions and perhaps uncover some new opportunities for you and your services. ---------------------------------------------------------------- To visit Boston PHP Meetup, go here: http://php.meetup.com/29/ If you'd like to take part in a discussion, your Organizer also posted this message to your Group's Message Boards: http://php.meetup.com/29/boards/
