Hi, just an update on my quest for switching career. I've got a reply to the similar message I sent to the list of my church (<ad>Cambridge Vineyard; http://www.cambridgevineyard.org</ad>) saying basically: "Are you crazy? System admin is too complicated, you have to know everything (especially worrying is hardware). Begin with something more simple, like QA and testing -- you can use your skills and it is much more accessible." My questions: 1) of course, What do you think about this idea? Is he right? 2) Any suggestions on how to find such internships/volunteer job? Logistical update: First of all, I have to re-emphasize that my work permitt expired on June 30 (it may be interesting to somebody), and that I plan to leave USA for good (or at least to the next radical change in my life ;-)) on September 10.
