WMV playback under Linux/MacOS?

The Problem that I've come across recently was that a lot of wmv files 
are in the new wmv version 3 format which isn't supported on OS X.  The 
latest vlc nightly builds support it, though a bit buggy.

As far as Linux, I've always had luck with either MPlayer with w32codec 
package or VLC.
