After reading an article about Linux a couple of years ago I ran out and purchased RedHat 8. I had very little experience with computers and was not sure where to start. I found the boot messages the perfect beginning and immediately wanted to learn what each of them did. (The manuals that came with the CD's were awesome too!) So I think for the curious hobbyist it may be best to leave the messages. But I can understand that some may prefer quiet. - Eric C.
