I used to use cdrecord on the command line; I figured out all the
necessary option once, and then wrapped them in a shell function
so I could just type "burn foo.iso".

Lately I've been using the functionality built into Nautilus; I pop in
a blank CD or DVD, right-click on the icon of foo.iso, and select
"Write to disc".

I still generally use the command-line "mkisofs" to create the iso
images, though. I haven't felt a need to look for gui alternatives.
