Verizon just sent me a letter indicating that FIOS service is now available in my chunk of Waltham. I like the idea of more cheap bandwidth, but I dislike Verizon. (Not that I'm enchanted with Comcast, but they have done a decent job of providing bandwidth and staying out of my way.) So I called up Comcast and asked if they could match VZ's offer in any way. After almost 15 minutes on hold, a Comcast rep told me that they were rolling out 16Mb/s service to Waltham as a free upgrade, but she had no timeline for my neighborhood. She affirmed that at least some parts of Waltham had this already. Any Comcast subscribers seeing 16Mb/s downloads? -dsr- -- .. .----. -- .-. . .- -.. .. -. --. -.-- --- ..- .-. -- .- .. .-.. .-.-.- .-- .... --- . .-.. ... . .. ... ..--.. http://tao.merseine.nu/~dsr/eula.html is hereby incorporated by reference. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
