I have a Windows XP home laptop that does a wonderful job of streaming audio from a vhf/uhf scanner, with XP utilizing Icecast2 and Oddsock. When at work, I listen using RealPlayer on a Linux box and it works great. I posted a message to Ubuntuforums.org (17 views thus far) asking for a successful equivalent for Ubuntu (7.04) for the audio streaming, but no responses. So, I bring the question (again?) to this list. What would be the winning combination of tools in Ubuntu to get streaming audio from the scanner out to the Internet, on a port of my choice? I've tried several unsuccessful attempts on my Ubuntu 7.04 desktop. I figure if I can get it to work on my desktop, I could transfer the winning results to the laptop. Thanks for any leads.
