When: June 20, 2007 7:00PM (6:30 for Q&A) Topic: Ruby on Rails Moderator: Brian DeLacey Location: MIT Building E51 Room TBD =20 Note: John will post the new room number on web site later on after MIT assigns it. Most likely it will be on the third floor.=20 Brian presents an introduction and overview of Ruby on Rails, a walk through working code, and look at more advanced capabilities like REST and web services. This meeting will cover using Ruby and Rails for building simple system utilities as well as sophisticated, data-driven, web sites. Ruby and Rails hit the cover of Linux Journal in July 2006. Ruby is an elegant object oriented programming language and Rails is a versatile web development framework written in Ruby. Add in Linux and a database like MySQL and you have a highly productive development environment. We'll discuss the major new developments since that Linux Journal story, including a major Rails update early this year and a big update to Ruby due later this year.
