I just checked out the source for that program, it seems it looks at dmidecode for some of the detection, 1) it would have to be run as root and 2) it doesn't check "Laptop" or "Sub Notebook" only "Portable" and "Notebook"; (I have 500 dmidecode results to check the stats on) so I'm not even sure how accurate it would be just based on batteries.
