From the command line, there smbclient, which is essentially an ftp-like application for transferring files over an SMB/CIFS mount. On the desktop side, I honestly don't know anymore if Konqueror or Nautilus can handle such a task directly, but you may want to look at an app called SMB4K. I remember it made the task of mounting such shares a sinch, but I can't recall if it assists with non-mounted access as well. Sorry, it's been a few years since I've worked in a hybrid network. -Danny Quoting Scott Ehrlich <scott-DPNOqEs/LNQ at public.gmane.org>: > If I want to access a Windows/Samba share from a Windows box, I can > simply select Start > Run > \\windows_machine\share > >> From a Mac, I can select Command-K (or Go > Connect to Server) > smb://windows_machine/share > >> From a Linux machine, is there any way to do the above kind of concept > without having to mount the share?
