Since FIOS was installed in my area, I've had sales people coming by the house for both Verizon & Comcast on a nearly daily basis. The prices they are offering for FIOS service are cheaper than the traditional phone, DSL, and CableTV services combined. I'm having mine installed tomorrow, and will be saving $10/month over the traditional services, and will be getting more channels, nationwide calling plan, and faster Internet. I should expect that if the legislation doesn't fly, they will just undercut the individual copper-line phone services with FIOS, making it a moot point.
