Hmm.. you picked the least supported of the 3 big BSDs (Free, Net Open), on AMD64... Anyways did you check the OpenBSD ports? "If a given package does not exist for your architecture, you may still be able to compile the port. Besides, some users will want to compile everything from source for various reasons." ~OpenBSD site. I haven't really messed with the ports system (which I should..), but you should check it out. Although, I guess since the opensource one doesn't work too well (apparently), and the closed source one is the problem, this might not help too much, but it might be worth a shot.
