You forgot the "all other things being equal" part. There are some very large factors pushing the balance back and forth. As (I think) Laura said, LCD screen production is erratic, and that has a big effect on availability. You've also got government-mandated obsolescence quickly approaching, so some people may have to buy whether they would otherwise have done so or not.
