> I have a RHEL 5 64-bit server acting as a PDC for Win XP machines via > Samba. I'd like to push Windows patches to the XP machines, and am > wondering what people have done to accomplish this? > Not Open Source, or even free- but, I use Shavlik's NetChk Protect to push patches to client machines instead of WSUS. Unlike WSUS, NetChk can run on a desktop OS (no MS server CALS!) so you could install it on one of the XP machines and do all of your scanning and patching from there. Added bonus, NetChk will patch some non-MS products- including Firefox, Apache, Thunderbird, WinZip and Adobe apps. It is a CPU hog, and as you would expect it can eat some bandwidth, but scans and deployments can be scheduled and optimized to minimize disruptions. Info at: http://www.shavlik.com/netchk-protect.aspx Jack -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
