Or install some monitoring of the temperatures and when you have a   
baseline then try replacing the fans with others that go slower (or   
can be speed regulated). 

I had a bad fan in my fileserver at home and went through a few   
different ones before I found one that was quiet enough.  It's also   
running very slowly, but according to munin[1] it's fast enough to   
keep the temperatures down.
