I have just upgraded from Fc6 and did ran the sound detect gui. At first I had no sound and it disabled the device. I then fiddled with some of the selections and re-detected the card in repeat mode and then there was sound and I could listen to vlc playing mpg's as regular user. I don't listen to a lot of sound files on my laptop so I don't know if this is a fluke. I have read that pulse audio has caused a lot of user space problems. What were your symptoms so that I may test further to be sure I'm not assuming too much?
