Usually, there's "localhost" which should always be there, and anything outside of localhost, which can either be a domain name or a wildcard or a combination. Things could behave differently depending on whether or not you have name lookups enabled for your MySQL installation. You might want to consider poking around in my.cnf and make sure you have all your settings in place to your expectations, so you don't run into other "gotchas" of this nature. -Fred Database works?
