Essentially, it needs to be approved by the bankruptcy court and the creditors. And remember that the chapter 11 is currently on hold until the SCO vs. Novell case is decided in the Utah Federal Court. Additionally while SNCP will hold a controlling interest, it does not buy out the existing stockholders and could possibly leave SCO open to a stockholder suit. But, it does allow SCO to pursue its appeals on the Novell lawsuit and to continue to pursue the SCO vs. IBM lawsuit. Additionally that also might keep the Red Hat vs. SCO case alive. The bottom line here is that SCO stockholders get screwed. The issue on the Linux issues remains alive. And, Pamela Jones can have more stuff to talk about in the future. Personally after following the IBM and Novell cases, I don't think that Judge Kimball's rulings on the Unix and UnixWare IPs will be overturned. -- -- Jerry Feldman <[hidden email]> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
