My Debian Etch box has 1:4.3p2-9 (OpenSSH_4.3p2 Debian-9, OpenSSL 0.9.8c 05 Sep 2006). Not exactly cutting edge. I haven't tested the feature, but it obviously is documented as being supported. If you can't upgrade, explore the other options, like the -g switch Matt mentioned, or the GatewayPorts setting in your OpenSSH config file. Other options include hacking a connection between the loopback address and the LAN IP with something like netcat, or just running an ssh client directly on your laptop. Putty[1] supports port forwarding, and there are OpenSSH ports to Windows[2]. 1. http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ 2. http://www.itefix.no/phpws/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=12&MMN_position=22:22 -Tom -- Tom Metro Venture Logic, Newton, MA, USA "Enterprise solutions through open source."
