I had quite a time getting VMware Server to work under Linux.  Windows 
install works great, but my windows installation has severe registry rot 
or something.  Tried it out under Fedora Core 6.  Doesn't match the 
kernel version - try to recompile something but it doesn't work.  Try 
under Fedora 8, same problem. 

To get it to work, you have to install the VMware server .rpm.  Then you 
have to install the "any-any" patch from somebody in the Czech republic 
I think.  Then you have to go into the patch and untar it and patch 
three files, re-tar then run the script. 

This is all pretty awkward and gives me pause.  I guess you would have 
better results under RHEL or Centos, but I would want to run those as 
virtual servers.
