One of our customers wants us to use PGP Shredder to destroy sensitive data of theirs when our support people are finished with it. I looked this up and found that PGP Shredder is part of the PGP Desktop product for Windows. PGP Shredder overwrites a file with random bits in multiple passes before actually deleting the file. The customer data is centrally managed from a Linux samba server, though, and I need a way to do the same type of file destruction on the server. What's the recommended equivalent command-line software for securely deleting files on Linux? -- John Abreau / Executive Director, Boston Linux & Unix GnuPG KeyID: 0xD5C7B5D9 / Email: [hidden email] GnuPG FP: 72 FB 39 4F 3C 3B D6 5B E0 C8 5A 6E F1 2C BE 99 -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
